Acceptable Use Policy

Rules for using OS Assistance websites, the customer portal, and Linux infrastructure services.

Effective Date: October 2026 Operating Entity: SHRE Consulting Corp. (DBA OS Assistance)

Policy summary

Use our services only for systems and activities you are authorized to administer. Malicious activity, unauthorized testing, abusive resource use, fraud, and insecure transmission of credentials are prohibited.

1. Purpose and scope

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to the OS Assistance website, customer portal at osassistance.com/cs/, APIs, and managed engineering services provided by OS Assistance, a DBA of SHRE Consulting Corp., a Delaware corporation.

Our services support legitimate business operations through Linux systems administration, security hardening, and infrastructure automation. By using the portal, requesting work, or subscribing to a plan, you agree to follow this AUP and any service-specific agreement.

2. Ownership and authorization

Request work only for servers, cloud accounts, network devices, domains, data, and software repositories that you own or are expressly authorized to administer. You are responsible for confirming that your authorization covers the requested access and work.

Provide the relevant scope, restrictions, and proof of authorization if requested. We may pause or decline work when ownership, authority, or the permitted scope is unclear.

3. Prohibited activities

You may not use our services, or ask us to configure or operate systems, for the following activities:

4. Credential security

Customers must use secure methods when granting access to managed systems:

  • No plaintext secrets: Do not send root passwords, sudo credentials, access tokens, private SSH keys, or private decryption keys through standard unencrypted email or public forms.
  • SSH access: OS Assistance uses customer-approved SSH public-key access for server administration. Never send us your private key or root password.
  • Portal requests: Submit administrative requests through a verified customer portal account so the requested work can be associated with an authorized user and scope.

5. Enforcement and legal requests

We may decline a request, pause a task, restrict portal access, or suspend or terminate services when we reasonably believe there is a violation of this AUP, unauthorized activity, or a material security risk. Any action is subject to the applicable service agreement and law; where practical and permitted, we will notify the customer and explain the relevant concern.

We may disclose information in response to valid legal process or where disclosure is otherwise required or permitted by law.

6. Abuse reporting and inquiries

Report suspected misuse or a security concern to the contact below. Include the affected domain or system, a brief description, and relevant dates. Do not include passwords, private keys, or other secrets in your report.
